The Mullum2Bruns Paddle would not run without the massive effort made by hundreds of volunteers.
- For starters there is the Paddle committee who start planning in August for an event that happens in May the next year. That's a lot of meetings!
- Then there are the volunteers from each of the three beneficiary groups. Their duties include but are not limited to: patrolling the river in their resuce craft, providing first aid, timimg the Challenges, judging the Duck Race, selling t-shirts, baking cakes, turning sausages on the food stalls ... the list goes on.
- Then there are volunteers from other community groups who are involved on the day - the very reliable Lions, SES and Marine Rescue volunteers from Coffs Harbour, Point Danger and Ballina..
You too can work as a volunteer on Paddle day. The committee is always on the look out for extra manpower to help the day run smoothly. There is no experience needed for these jobs. They can be undertaken in shifts so that you can still participate in the fun - or just to have a break. Jobs include shuttle bus manager, t-shirt seller, beach warden, dragon boat trailer coordinator.
